Vermicomposting, Solution for Restaurant & Kitchen Food Wastes

Vermicomposting is one of the many solutions available to combat the growing garbage problem in major cities today. The technology of using earthworms to produce organic compost from kitchen and restaurant food waste has been present for decades now. However, only a few practice vermicomposting.

This video presents the growing problem of restaurant wastes adding to garbage thrown in the landfills of India. To address this problem, some restaurants, such as the one featured in this video is using vermicomposting to limit wastes added to landfills.

I hope restaurants and homes would practice this technology here in the Philippines. What’s even better, we can produce organic composts, which can be added to farmlands to limit use of chemical pesticides. In addition, the earthworms can be sold to other people who want to make their own composts and fishpond owners as fish meal. A very good "AgriBusiness" indeed.
